Deidre started her career at an advertising agency where her passion for creativity was ignited. She has extensive corporate marketing, innovation, ideation and futures experience, having worked in private banking and in senior management positions in a leading multi-national alcoholic beverage company.

Deidre has a BA degree majoring in communications and psychology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing, Post Graduate Diploma in Future Studies (Cum Laude) and an MPhil Futures Studies (Summa Cum Laude and Top Student). She is also a qualified Prince 2 practitioner.
Her research report focused on “The 4th IR – Structural resilience: The future of organisational structure in South Africa, 2030 and beyond”. She used the Houston Foresight Framework as part of her report and integrated various Futures Methodologies to create scenarios and models that touched on future skills, work and the structural arrangements that organisations need to do to be successful in the future world of work.

Deidre currently manages her own consulting firm, Future-Fit and assists the IFR as a research associate working on various futures thinking research projects.

Ian is Managing Partner of Winds of Change, a partner in FutureFit and heads up the SMC.group, a leading futures, strategy, strategic change, human resources and organizational design / development consultancy with offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa.

Ian specializes in strategy facilitation and articulation, strategic change enablement, design thinking, organization design as well as the crafting and implementation of bespoke stakeholder alignment and execution processes.
This includes organizational development (OD) interventions that build organizational capability for high performance.
Over many years Ian has also developed a specialized ability to craft and implement risk-based strategies for both companies as well as national and regional regulators.

Ian is an accomplished small and large, multi-stakeholder group facilitator and is highly experienced in interactive, large scale change methodology, including Real Time Strategic Change, Future Search, Preferred Futuring, Open Space, Appreciative Inquiry, Conference Model and Polarity Thinking. These are all principle-based, participative approaches to facilitation and creating fast and lasting change. Ian is also a Design Thinking practitioner and is particularly accomplished at facilitating diverse, large groups with differing levels of education, experience, literacy and expectations regarding the issues being addressed.
Ian has more than twenty years’ experience in crafting and facilitating vision crafting, strategy, developing aligned organizational designs and implementing strategic alignment interventions involving multiple stakeholders – creating clarity, commitment and delivering measurable business results to the bottom line. Every process of engagement is clearly scoped out with clear deliverables and a pre-determined methodology and a bespoke approach, created to suit a specific client context and set of requirements. Ian often works with newly appointed Chief Executive Officers to assess their organizational landscape, scope out the changes in strategy required, craft compelling strategies / organization designs and processes of change to align the hearts, minds and behavior of key stakeholders.
Ian has extensive experience in the public and private sectors in Southern Africa and abroad and has facilitated and lead strategy / organization design initiatives and processes of strategic transformational change for the South African Revenue Service (supporting Commission Pravin Gordhan with designing & implementing the transformation process 2001 – 2006), National Treasury, the Auditor General, the Government Employees Pension Fund, the Public Investment Corporation, the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications, the CIPC, National Consumer Tribunal, Cape Town Partnership, National Arts Council, Technology Innovation Agency, CapeNature, Western Cape Government – Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT), Free State Government – Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, the National Health Service (UK) – World Class Commissioning, both the South African (FSB) and Namibian (NAMFISA) financial regulators as well as the Namibian Stock Exchange.
In 2002 Ian was recognized by FEDHASA the South Africa hospitality industry association as ‘Consultant / Service Provider of the Year’ for ‘outstanding services to the hospitality industry.’
Ian is a strategic partner with the Free State University Business School and lectures on their executive programmes in Transitional & Transformational Change, Strategy, Strategy Alignment & Partnering, and Organisation Design. Ian is also a well-known speaker on strategy, strategic change and organizational design and has spoken at the global Organisation Design Network annual conferences in Tacoma and Philadelphia.
